Rajeev Sharma :- Several senior operatives linked to terror outfits, including Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin and Al-Badr commander Bakht Zameen Khan, reportedly attended the funeral prayers of Hamza Burhan, a key terror figure accused of orchestrating anti-India activities from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Burhan was laid to rest in Islamabad under heavy security arrangements, with armed militants seen carrying assault rifles and other sophisticated weapons during the ceremony.
According to reports, Hamza Burhan was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Muzaffarabad earlier this week, triggering panic and heightened tensions within terror networks operating across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The visible presence of heavily armed guards around senior militant leaders at the funeral reflected growing fears of targeted attacks within these organisations.
Security agencies describe Hamza Burhan, also identified as Arjumand Gulzar Dar alias “Doctor,” as a significant operative allegedly linked to Pakistan’s intelligence-backed terror infrastructure. Originally from the Ratnipora area of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, he was believed to have managed multiple terror launch pads and recruitment modules across the region.
Investigators claim Burhan played a major role in radicalising and recruiting Kashmiri youth for terror activities while also coordinating funding and logistical support for militant operations. He was reportedly active in building a wide network of overground workers in South Kashmir.
Sources indicate that Burhan travelled to Pakistan nearly seven years ago using valid documents before joining the Al-Badr outfit, where he later rose to a senior operational position. From across the border, he allegedly supervised terror recruitment, arms supply and financial channels targeting Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian authorities had placed him on the most wanted list for several years. In 2022, India’s Ministry of Home Affairs officially designated him as a terrorist, accusing him of promoting militancy, organising recruitment drives and facilitating terror financing in the Kashmir Valley.
