Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Prateek Yadav’s Death Leaves Political Circles in Shock, Postmortem Underway

News Alert

Lucknow (Rajeev Sharma): Lucknow witnessed a wave of grief on Wednesday after the sudden death of Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, at the age of 38. He was rushed to a civil hospital in the city by family members in the early hours, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Hospital officials confirmed that a medical board at King George’s Medical University will conduct a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary reports suggested no visible external injury marks on the body, leaving the circumstances of his demise unclear.

Prateek, who was married to BJP leader Aparna Yadav, largely stayed away from active politics despite belonging to one of Uttar Pradesh’s most influential political families. He was the stepbrother of Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Known for his entrepreneurial ventures, Prateek had built a name for himself in the real estate business and was widely recognised for his dedication to fitness. He had also earned attention years ago for his remarkable physical transformation, which was featured on an international bodybuilding platform.

Despite maintaining a low political profile, he occasionally made headlines due to his lifestyle choices and public appearances. In recent months, reports of strain in his personal life had surfaced, though the family had not publicly commented in detail.

Born to Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhna Gupta, Prateek preferred a private life and remained detached from electoral politics, unlike many members of the Yadav family.

The news of his passing has prompted condolences from political leaders and supporters across party lines, while family members and close associates gathered in Lucknow to pay their last respects. Further clarity on the cause of death is expected after the postmortem report is released.
