Donald Trump Rejects Tehran’s Bid for Truce, Signals Tougher Stand on Iran Conflict

After Iran Truce, Trump Targets Allies, Revives Greenland Debate

Washington (Rajeev Sharma): US President Donald Trump has turned down Iran’s latest proposal aimed at ending the months-long conflict, calling the offer unacceptable and raising fresh doubts about prospects for an immediate ceasefire.

The proposal was reportedly delivered to Washington on Sunday as diplomatic channels remained active in search of a possible resolution to the war that has disrupted major global energy routes since February.

Responding through his Truth Social account, Trump said he had reviewed the message from Iranian representatives and found it completely unsatisfactory. While he made his position clear, the president did not reveal details of what Tehran had proposed.

The sharp rejection comes at a critical moment as concerns grow over the broader economic fallout of the conflict. The closure of a key international oil passage has already strained fuel supplies in multiple countries and pushed up global energy costs.

Political pressure is also building within the United States. Senior Republican voices have urged the administration to prepare stronger action if diplomatic efforts continue to stall, with some openly suggesting military intervention as a possible next step.

Observers say Iran’s proposal may have been an attempt to ease tensions and reopen negotiations after months of military and financial pressure. However, Trump’s response indicates Washington is not prepared to accept terms it views as insufficient.

No official statement has yet been issued by Iranian authorities following the public rejection.

The latest setback adds uncertainty to an already volatile situation, leaving the international community watching closely for signs of either renewed diplomacy or a dangerous escalation in hostilities.
