Beautification Work Begins on Key Stretch Linking Golden Temple Complex to Baba Atal Rai Sahib

Gurpreet Singh :- In a major initiative aimed at improving infrastructure and convenience for devotees visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), in collaboration with Baba Kashmir Singh Ji Kar Sewa Bhuri Wale, has commenced beautification and renovation work on the road connecting Guru Ramdas Langar Hall to Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib within the Golden Temple complex area.

The project was formally inaugurated after an ardas led by SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.

Project part of long-pending master plan

Addressing the gathering, Dhami said the sacred city of Sri Harmandir Sahib attracts devotees from across the world and efforts are continuously being made to improve facilities for the sangat. He stated that the redevelopment plan had been under consideration for a long time and is now being executed under a structured master plan.

He added that the route would be upgraded with improved drainage systems, landscaped greenery and enhanced pedestrian-friendly facilities to ensure a smoother experience for visitors.

Route connects major accommodation centres

Baba Kashmir Singh, head of Kar Sewa Bhuri Wale, said the stretch connects several important buildings and accommodation facilities, including Teja Singh Samundri Hall, Guru Hargobind Sahib Yatri Niwas, Mata Ganga Ji Niwas and Guru Arjan Dev Yatri Niwas.

Given the heavy daily footfall in the area, the need for systematic renovation and beautification had been felt for quite some time, he said, adding that efforts would be made to complete the work at the earliest without causing inconvenience to devotees.

Appeal for public participation in seva

Dhami also appealed to the Sikh community and devotees to contribute wholeheartedly towards the seva project. He expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly improve the overall environment and accessibility around the shrine complex while preserving its spiritual and historical significance.
