Governor Asim Kumar Ghosh inspires new IAS probationers with a masterclass on public service

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Six fresh-faced IAS probationers from the 2025 batch, recently allotted to the Haryana cadre, stepped into the corridors of power this Thursday for a courtesy meeting with Governor Professor Asim Kumar Ghosh at Lok Bhavan in Chandigarh. The encounter was less of a formal briefing and more of an impassioned call to action, as the Governor took the opportunity to impart a clear vision for their upcoming roles within the state’s administrative machinery. He reminded the young officers that while the prestige of the civil services is significant, the real weight lies in the responsibility to act as catalysts for genuine societal progress.

During the interaction, Professor Ghosh laid out a roadmap for ethical administration, urging the probationers to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability. In an era where efficiency is often measured by digital metrics, the Governor emphasized that the true hallmark of good governance is the effective and timely delivery of public services to the average citizen. He stressed that welfare and development schemes must be executed with a commitment that reflects their original intent, ensuring that government initiatives do not just exist on paper but reach the people they are designed to help.

Beyond the logistical challenges of governance, the Governor encouraged a deeply humane and sensitive approach to public service. He advised the officers to maintain their integrity and dedication even when faced with the complexities of state administration. As they prepare to transition from training to the front lines of implementation, Professor Ghosh highlighted their critical role in transforming the lives of millions through dedicated service. He concluded the session by wishing the group a successful and impactful career, noting that the future of Haryana’s development rests largely on their shoulders.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the Governor, Vijay Kumar Bhavikatti, and the Secretary of Personnel, Training, and Parliamentary Affairs, Pankaj. The cohort of young officers included Amittej Pangte, Muskan Srivastava, Shivani Panchal, Soham Shailendra, Vishal Singh, and Vivek Yadav. Each of these probationers will soon begin the practical phase of their journey, carrying with them the Governor’s message of integrity and a citizen-first mindset as they navigate the diverse challenges of the Haryana cadre.
