Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana’s Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry has assured citizens that the provincial government is fully committed to ensuring an uninterrupted and clean supply of drinking water across the state. During a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials from the Irrigation and Public Health Engineering departments on Wednesday, the minister emphasized that no region should face a shortage as temperatures continue to climb. She made it clear that the administration views the provision of potable water as a top priority and will provide all necessary resources and funding to maintain the infrastructure required for consistent delivery.
Minister Choudhry issued a stern directive to department staff, ordering them to utilize additional pumps where necessary to ensure that water storage tanks are filled on time. She underscored that the public must not be inconvenienced by administrative delays and warned that any negligence or lack of dedication in performing these duties would result in strict disciplinary action. The minister noted that while the government is doing its part to manage resources, there is an expectation of absolute accountability from every officer and employee involved in the distribution network to maintain the public’s trust.
In addition to administrative orders, the minister appealed to the residents of Haryana to practice mindful water consumption during the peak summer months. Describing water as an invaluable resource, she urged citizens to avoid waste and use only what is required to ensure that enough supply remains available for everyone. This call for collective responsibility highlights the challenge of managing a finite resource during periods of high demand, where individual conservation efforts can significantly alleviate pressure on the provincial grid and support those in more vulnerable areas.
Addressing specific regional concerns, the minister provided a positive update for the residents of Bhiwani. She confirmed that water released into the Hansi Branch on Monday, May 4, 2026, has successfully transitioned through the Sunder Sub Branch and reached the storage tanks in Bhiwani city. This strategic release is expected to significantly improve the drinking water situation in the area, providing much-needed relief to the local population. By combining proactive infrastructure management with public cooperation, the ministry aims to navigate the seasonal surge in demand without compromising on service quality.
