During the operation, four individuals were taken into custody following the recovery of seven sophisticated pistols. The haul included two high-end Glock 9mm pistols manufactured in Austria and five .30 bore pistols, four of which originated from China. This successful raid highlights the ongoing vigilance of local law enforcement in addressing the influx of illicit weaponry into the province.
Initial investigations indicate a digital dimension to this criminal enterprise, as the suspects were reportedly in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through various social media platforms. These digital channels were utilized to coordinate the delivery of weapon consignments intended for further distribution among criminal elements across Punjab. The use of social media for such high-stakes illegal activity underscores the evolving challenges faced by police in tracking and intercepting international smuggling rings that exploit modern communication technology.
Following the arrests, an official first information report was registered under the Arms Act at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar. Investigative teams are currently working to establish both forward and backward linkages within the network to identify other potential associates involved in the scheme.
