Punjab Govt Likely To Faces Crucial Floor Test in Assembly as Political Uncertainty Deepens

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Delivers Fiery Speech in Assembly Amid BBMB Uproar, Defends Punjab’s Water, Culture, and Artists

Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): A high-stakes session is set to unfold in the Punjab Legislative Assembly today, with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party preparing to demonstrate its majority amid rising speculation of internal divisions.

The one-day session, scheduled for 11:00 AM, has gained significance following the recent exit of six Rajya Sabha MPs who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The development has intensified political tension in the state and triggered concerns about possible defections within the ruling camp.

In a bid to avoid any last-minute surprises, the party has issued a strict whip directing all its MLAs to be present in the House. Legislators have also been asked to report early to ensure full attendance during the proceedings, which could include a confidence vote.

While the government is expected to introduce a proposal regarding minimum wage revision, the spotlight remains firmly on the numbers game inside the Assembly. Political circles have been abuzz with claims from opposition leaders suggesting that a sizable group of ruling party MLAs could break ranks.

Amrinder Singh Raja Warring has publicly claimed that a large number of legislators are ready to leave the ruling party, while Bikram Singh Majithia has echoed similar concerns, predicting a split.

A floor test, if carried out, will be a decisive moment. A victory would reaffirm the government’s control and provide breathing space for the coming months. However, any unexpected shift in support could significantly alter the balance of power.

As the Assembly convenes, all eyes will be on whether the ruling party can maintain unity and navigate through what is shaping up to be one of the most critical political moments in recent times.
