Gurpreet Singh :- Stepping up preparations for the upcoming urban local body elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab on Wednesday announced a comprehensive list of in-charges and co-in-charges for nine municipal corporations, along with appointments for 105 municipal councils and नगर पंचायतों across the state.
According to the list released by state general secretary Anil Sareen, senior leaders have been assigned key responsibilities in major नगर निगम areas. Vijay Sampla has been named in-charge for Barnala, with Darshan Singh Nainewal as co-in-charge. In Bathinda, Jeevan Gupta will serve as in-charge and Mona Jaiswal as co-in-charge, while Manjit Singh Rai and Ashok Bharti have been assigned similar roles for Abohar. Avinash Rai Khanna and Sukhwinder Pintu will oversee Batala, and Manoranjan Kalia along with Sushil Sharma have been appointed for Hoshiarpur. Kapurthala will be handled by Sushil Rinku and Anil Sachar, Moga by K.D. Bhandari and Jatinder Mittal, Pathankot by Rajesh Bagha and Rajesh Honey, and SAS Nagar by Harminder Jassi and Pushpinder Singla.
In addition to the municipal corporations, the party has made extensive appointments at the grassroots level, covering all 105 municipal councils and nagar panchayats across Punjab. Leaders have been assigned to various towns and local bodies spanning districts including Amritsar, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mansa, Patiala, Rupnagar and Sangrur.
The BJP stated that the large-scale organisational reshuffle is aimed at strengthening its ground-level structure, improving coordination among workers, and ensuring effective election management ahead of the polls. Party leaders expressed confidence that these appointments would help mobilise cadre and enhance outreach in urban constituencies.
