President Droupadi Murmu Commences Five-Day Visit to Himachal Pradesh

Shimla (Gurpreet Singh): President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Shimla on Monday, April 27, 2026, to a grand ceremonial welcome, marking the start of her five-day official tour of Himachal Pradesh. The President was received at the Kalyani Helipad in Chharabra by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who extended a warm greeting on behalf of the state’s residents.

The high-profile reception was attended by several key dignitaries, including Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania and Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh, who has been designated as the Minister-in-Waiting for the duration of the visit. Also present were Member of Parliament Suresh Kumar Kashyap, Shimla Mayor Surinder Chauhan, and top administrative and police officials, including Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta and DGP Ashok Tiwari.

During her stay, the President is expected to reside at the Rashtrapati Niwas (The Retreat) in Chharabra. Her itinerary includes several official engagements, including presiding over convocation ceremonies and interacting with local representatives. This visit is seen as a significant event for the hill state, with the administration making extensive security and logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the presidential tour.
