Spirit of Non-Violence More Relevant Today Than Ever: Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that the core tenet of Jainism, Ahimsa Parmo Dharma (Non-violence is the supreme duty), has become increasingly vital in a world currently grappling with conflict and unrest. Speaking as the chief guest at a religious assembly at the Shri Atma Manohar Jain Aradhana Mandir in Karnal, the Chief Minister extended his greetings for Akshaya Tritiya and the Varshi Tap Parana festival. He noted that the values of self-control and patience inherent in these traditions serve as a significant inspiration for the youth, guiding them toward personal growth and national progress.

During his visit, Chief Minister Saini laid the foundation stone for the first floor of the Piyush Block Hospital and inaugurated two bird towers along with a wildlife service centre. He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is working toward becoming a “Vishwa Guru” (World Leader) by preserving its rich cultural heritage. Saini cited the construction of the Ram Mandir, the Mahakal Corridor, and the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor as milestones of this cultural revival. He also mentioned the restoration of the sacred site in Kurukshetra where Lord Krishna delivered the message of the Gita, blending modern development with spiritual roots.

The Chief Minister praised the Jain community for its historical and contemporary contributions to Haryana’s development, noting that regions like Gurugram, Rohtak, and Hisar have been steeped in Jain culture for millennia. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to all religions, he highlighted the Mukhya Mantri Tirtha Yatra Yojana, which assists elderly citizens from economically weaker sections in visiting pilgrimage sites. He announced that a special train to Nanded Sahib will depart from Kurukshetra on May 5 to further this initiative. Spiritual leader Piyush Muni Maharaj also addressed the gathering, explaining the historical significance of Lord Rishabhdev’s penance and the enduring merit of selfless charity on Akshaya Tritiya.
