Legendary singer Asha Bhosle hospitalized in Mumbai due to chest infection

Mumbai (Gurpreet SIngh): Veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai on Saturday evening, April 11, 2026. Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, confirmed the news via social media, stating that the 92-year-old legendary artist is being treated for a chest infection and extreme exhaustion. While earlier unconfirmed reports suggested cardiac issues, the family has clarified that the primary concerns are related to fatigue and respiratory congestion. Zanai requested privacy for the family, noting that treatment is ongoing and updates will be provided as her condition improves.

Asha Bhosle’s career spans over eight decades, during which she has recorded more than 12,000 songs across multiple Indian and international languages. Known for her unparalleled versatility, she has delivered iconic hits ranging from the soulful “In Ankhon Ki Masti” and “Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar” to high-energy tracks like “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja.” Her contribution to Indian cinema has made her the voice for generations of leading actresses, from the era of Madhubala and Meena Kumari to modern stars like Kajol and Urmila Matondkar.

Despite her age, the “Queen of Indipop” has remained active in the musical circuit, most recently performing a grand “ASHA@90” live concert in Dubai in 2023. As the younger sister of the late melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle holds a singular place in the heart of global Indian music fans. Well-wishers and members of the film fraternity have begun sharing messages of support on social media, praying for the swift recovery of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner.
