Batala (Gurpreet Singh): In a significant crackdown on organised crime, Batala Police has unearthed a cross-border network dealing in narcotics and illegal weapons, arresting two suspects and recovering a large quantity of contraband. The operation led to the seizure of 6.5 kilograms of heroin, a .30 caliber pistol along with six live cartridges, and ₹1 lakh believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
According to initial findings, the racket was not limited to drug smuggling alone but also involved the circulation of illegal arms among operatives. Investigators suspect a deep-rooted connection between drug trade, extortion activities, and the supply of weapons, indicating a wider criminal ecosystem at play.
A case has been registered at Police Station Civil Lines, Batala, and authorities have intensified efforts to trace the entire chain involved in the operation. Officials are now working to uncover both the supply routes and the local distribution network, aiming to dismantle the syndicate from its roots.
Punjab Police reiterated its firm stance against drug abuse and illegal arms, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to crack down on such networks and ensure public safety.
