Amritsar Police Foil Cross-Border Gunrunning Network, Seize Weapons Cache

Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): A coordinated operation by the Punjab Police has uncovered an illegal arms supply chain with links across the international border, resulting in multiple arrests in Amritsar.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that three suspects and a minor were taken into custody during the कार्रवाई, which also led to the recovery of several high-grade firearms, live ammunition and a two-wheeler allegedly used in the movement of the contraband.

Investigators believe the group maintained contact with operatives based in Pakistan, using online platforms to coordinate the transfer of weapons. The consignments were reportedly dropped at fixed نقاط near the Attari sector, from where they were collected and circulated within Punjab.

Police sources indicate that the seized weapons were intended for distribution among criminal elements, raising concerns about potential threats to public safety. The operation is being seen as a crucial step in disrupting a network that may have been active for some time.

A formal case has been registered under the Arms Act at a local police station, and authorities are now working to map the full extent of the racket. This includes identifying those involved in both the supply chain from across the border and the local distribution system.

Officials have stated that further التحقيق is ongoing, with a focus on dismantling the entire network and preventing future smuggling attempts.

Reaffirming its strict approach, the Punjab Police said it will continue targeted actions against organized crime and illegal arms movement to maintain law and order in the region.
