Ultimatum from Washington Deepens Crisis as Iran Pushes Back, Talks Struggle

Israel vs Iran War: Trump Demands 'Unconditional Surrender' from Iran, Says "We Know Where Supreme Leader is Hiding"

Washington (Rajeev Sharma): The war rhetoric surrounding the Iran conflict intensified further after Donald Trump delivered a blunt warning to Tehran, signalling the possibility of sweeping military action if negotiations fail to produce a breakthrough within days.

Speaking in a series of interviews, Trump suggested that the United States could unleash large-scale strikes across Iran, including on critical infrastructure, if a deal is not finalised before the deadline. His remarks have drawn sharp reactions globally, with analysts warning that such moves could have far-reaching humanitarian and legal implications.

Concerns have been raised that targeting essential civilian systems could breach international norms governing armed conflict, potentially opening the door to allegations of serious violations.

Even as tensions mount, diplomatic efforts remain underway behind closed doors. Mediators from several countries are attempting to broker a temporary ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, with proposals reportedly centred around a limited pause in hostilities to create space for broader negotiations. However, sources indicate that trust between the two sides remains low, complicating progress.

Iranian leadership has responded with firm resistance. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that continued pressure and threats could push the situation into a dangerous spiral, urging a shift toward dialogue rather than escalation.

With the deadline fast approaching and both sides holding firm, the region faces a precarious moment. Observers say the coming days could prove decisive in determining whether diplomacy prevails or the conflict enters a more destructive phase.
