Cross-Border Drug Network Busted in Amritsar; Two Arrested with 5 Kg Heroin, Probe Expands

Gurpreet Singh :- In a major breakthrough against transnational drug trafficking, authorities in Amritsar have dismantled a key narcotics module, arresting two individuals and recovering 5 kilograms of heroin from their possession. The operation is part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at curbing the flow of drugs from across the border into India.

Preliminary investigations have revealed links between the गिरफ्तार accused and handlers based in Pakistan, along with connections to an international network facilitating the smuggling of narcotics. Officials indicated that the recovered consignment was part of a larger supply chain being operated through cross-border channels.

A case has been registered by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), and further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the network. Authorities believe more arrests are likely as efforts continue to identify additional operatives and financial links associated with the racket.

The development comes amid intensified joint operations by security agencies targeting drug syndicates operating along border areas. Recent actions have led to significant seizures of heroin, drug money, and even drones used for smuggling, highlighting the evolving methods employed by traffickers.

Officials reiterated their commitment to dismantling the drug ecosystem and ensuring stricter enforcement to make the region drug-free and secure.
