Consumers allege overcharging and coercive practices by LPG agencies in Goniana Mandi

Gurpreet Singh :- Several consumers in Goniana Mandi and nearby villages have raised serious allegations against local LPG distribution agencies, accusing them of unfair practices and overcharging. Residents claim that customers are being pressured to purchase gas pipes priced at around ₹190, with agency staff allegedly warning that refusal could lead to delays in cylinder supply or issues related to incomplete KYC verification.

Consumers further allege irregularities in the pricing of domestic LPG cylinders. According to them, while the official delivery price for a household cylinder is around ₹952, some agencies in the area are reportedly charging ₹960 from customers. Residents say that even when consumers collect cylinders directly from the agency godown instead of opting for home delivery, they are still being charged the same amount.

Under existing norms, customers who pick up cylinders themselves are generally expected to receive a concession equivalent to the delivery charge, which is around ₹33. However, locals claim that instead of providing such relief, some agencies are allegedly collecting additional amounts from customers.

Another concern raised by consumers relates to the sale of gas pipes without proper billing. Residents claim that in several cases no formal bill or receipt is issued for the pipes being sold, raising questions about transparency and compliance with taxation rules.

Local residents have urged the concerned authorities to investigate the matter and take appropriate action if any violations are found. They have demanded strict measures, including penalties or cancellation of licences, against agencies proven to be engaging in unfair practices.
