Gurpreet Singh :- A three-year-old child was injured after a rifle carried by a private security guard accidentally went off in Punjab’s Moga district, triggering panic in the area. The incident occurred in Kishanpura locality, where the child sustained a bullet injury in the thigh.
According to information, the injured child was immediately rushed to Medicity Hospital for treatment. Doctors are currently monitoring the child’s condition and providing medical care.
Preliminary reports suggest that the house owner had deployed a private security guard for protection, and the guard was carrying a rifle at the time of the incident. For reasons yet to be established, the weapon discharged suddenly, and the bullet struck the child who was present nearby.
The unexpected firing created panic among residents in the vicinity. Soon after the incident, the security guard reportedly fled the spot.
Police reached the scene after receiving information and have launched an investigation into the matter. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding guard while officials are also examining the circumstances that led to the accidental firing.
Sources further revealed that the injured child studies in nursery class and had returned home after appearing for a school examination shortly before the incident occurred. Meanwhile, the child’s family members have declined to issue any statement or speak to the media at this stage.
