AMRITSAR (Gurpreet Singh) — In a major development within the highest echelons of Sikh religious administration, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has officially terminated the services of Giani Raghbir Singh from the position of Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple). The decisive action was taken during an emergency interim committee meeting held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, following a period of intense internal scrutiny regarding the official’s conduct.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami confirmed the termination, citing “serious allegations” that had surfaced against Giani Raghbir Singh. While the specific nature of the charges remains undisclosed, the SGPC leadership stated that the former Head Granthi’s activities were deemed detrimental to the reputation of the apex Sikh body and the sanctity of the Golden Temple.
