Modi Inaugurates ‘Seva Teerth’ and New Secretariat Buildings, Calls It a Step Toward Viksit Bharat

New Delhi, Feb. 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the new Prime Minister’s Office complex, named Seva Teerth, along with two Central Secretariat buildings—Kartavya Bhawan 1 and Kartavya Bhawan 2—describing them as a major milestone in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation.

Addressing an event attended by Union ministers, senior bureaucrats and government officials, the Prime Minister said the new facilities reflect the government’s focus on citizen-centric administration and national progress.

“Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhawan mark an important step in India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat. These buildings represent our commitment to governance that prioritizes public service and national development,” Modi said.

He noted that the new complexes have been designed to meet the evolving needs of governance and to fulfil the aspirations of the people. According to him, decisions taken from these buildings will serve as a foundation for advancing the ambitions of the country’s 1.4 billion citizens.

The Prime Minister contrasted the new infrastructure with historic buildings such as North Block and South Block, which currently house key ministries and the PMO. He said those structures were originally built during the British era to reflect colonial authority, whereas the new complexes symbolize independent India’s democratic and people-focused governance.

Modi also highlighted the need to move beyond colonial-era mindsets as the country progresses toward becoming a developed nation. He said that shedding remnants of a “colonial mentality” is essential for building a self-confident and modern India.

Calling the day a “new beginning” in the country’s development journey, the Prime Minister referred to the significance of Vijaya Ekadashi, expressing confidence that the resolve to build a developed India would succeed.

He also reiterated that the renaming of Race Course Road to Lok Kalyan Marg was part of a broader effort to shift the idea of power toward public service and welfare.

On the occasion, Modi released a commemorative postage stamp and a special coin featuring the Seva Teerth complex.
