Airdire (Rajeev Sharma): Maulik Shah announced with regret that a long-running weekly food drive in Airdrie has been shut down, citing actions by what he described as politically motivated individuals.

For a long time, the initiative had been operating through consistent volunteer efforts, distributing groceries each Saturday to more than 200 plus people in need. The program was supported by over 50 dedicated volunteers and had become a vital source of assistance for vulnerable members of the community.

Speaking to National Times, Shah said his team would not stop doing social work due to any political pressure. He emphasized that the team’s sole purpose is the welfare of needy people. “We are in Canada, a multicultural country,” Shah said, adding that people should learn lessons of togetherness and peace.
He further alleged that some individuals are using public platforms to defame team members and discredit the humanitarian work being done for needy people. Shah said such actions will be formally noted and may face legal consequences.
Shah also stated that, after taking proper legal advice, his team plans to expose the names of those groups he claims are politically motivated and attempting to dismantle the social work initiative.
Organizers say efforts are underway to restart the weekly food drive in Airdrie and that updates will be shared with the community as progress is made.
