Chandigarh, December 25 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday paid heartfelt tribute to Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, describing him as a visionary statesman whose ideals continue to guide the state towards transparent and people-centric governance.
Addressing the state-level Good Governance Day programme in Panchkula, the Chief Minister said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s life symbolised integrity, democratic values and public service. He noted that while governments may change, Vajpayee remained unwavering in his principles and beliefs, leaving behind a legacy rooted in honesty, values and national commitment.
The Chief Minister said the present Haryana government is firmly following the path shown by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and his ideals of good governance continue to inspire state policies and public service delivery.
Making a major announcement on the occasion, Nayab Singh Saini said that in all 87 urban local bodies of Haryana, at least one public place will be named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Statues of the former Prime Minister will also be installed at these locations. He said community buildings, parks, libraries, auditoriums, old-age homes or commercial spaces have already been identified for this purpose, and the decision will be implemented within the next six months.
The Chief Minister added that several institutions will also be established in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s name to inspire future generations and spread awareness about his life, thoughts and unparalleled contribution to the nation.
During the programme, the Chief Minister also launched several new digital initiatives aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and accessibility of government services. These included the Human Resources Department’s Security of Service portal, a portal by the Town and Country Planning Department for applications related to declaring infrastructure-deficient industrial areas, and the Press Release Management System and online press accreditation system of the Information, Public Relations and Language Department.
In addition, an AI-enabled instant registration system for commercial establishments launched by the Labour Department was also inaugurated. These digital initiatives are intended to simplify procedures, speed up service delivery and make governance more citizen-friendly.
The Chief Minister also released the New Year calendar and a coffee table book showcasing the government’s policies and schemes.
Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma, MLA Shakti Rani Sharma, former Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Misra, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Gupta, Commissioner and Secretary of Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department Dr Amit Aggarwal, Director Parth Gupta, Additional Director (Administration) Varsha Khangwal, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
