Citizens Must Engage in Service for Social and National Progress: Suman Saini

Chandigarh, December 20: Smt. Suman Saini, Vice Chairperson of the Haryana State Child Welfare Council and spouse of the Haryana Chief Minister, on Friday said that the continuous progress of society and the nation depends on every citizen remaining actively involved in service-oriented work. She emphasised that human life should not be limited to personal interests alone but must be dedicated to the welfare of society and the country.

Addressing a gathering at the Maharaja Shursaini Jayanti Smaroh organised by the Saini Employees Welfare Association at the Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh, Suman Saini said a nation can become strong, prosperous and developed only when individuals understand their responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to social welfare. She added that collective efforts by citizens are essential to achieve inclusive and sustainable national growth.

She described Maharaja Shursaini, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule as enduring sources of inspiration, noting that these great personalities showed society the path of equality, education and justice through their lives. She said they worked selflessly for the upliftment of all sections of society without discrimination and urged people to adopt their values and ideals to bring about positive social change. According to her, following the principles laid down by such reformers would guide future generations towards building a more educated, equal and humane society.

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Suman Saini said his decision to elevate the son of a farmer and a poor family to the position of Chief Minister of Haryana has become a source of inspiration for ordinary citizens. She remarked that the move reinforces the belief that with hard work and honesty, anyone can rise to the highest positions. She added that the Chief Minister is working tirelessly for public service and that Haryana is witnessing rapid development in sectors such as roads, education, health and employment.

She further said that a leader does not belong to one community or class but represents the entire state and all sections of society. According to her, the Chief Minister is taking everyone along and making decisions in the interest of all, thereby strengthening social harmony and the spirit of brotherhood.

Highlighting social challenges, the Vice Chairperson said that eliminating prevailing social evils requires collective efforts and awareness across society. She stated that such issues cannot be resolved by the government or an individual alone. She underlined the role of education in distinguishing right from wrong and said that social reform is possible only through an educated and aware society.
Suman Saini also stressed the need to provide quality education to future generations so that they grow into responsible, value-driven and conscious citizens. She said that when education and moral values go hand in hand, society moves towards positive transformation and the foundation of a civilised and empowered nation is laid.

The event was attended by the Chief Minister’s ADC Mahindra Singh, HPSC Deputy Secretary Satish Kumar, Director of Horticulture Arjun Saini, Senior Advocate General Pritam Singh, office-bearers of the Saini Employees Welfare Association, and other officials and staff members.
