Hansi Declared Haryana’s 23rd District, Notification to Be Issued Within a Week

Chandigarh, December 16: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday announced that Hansi will be made the 23rd district of the state. Addressing a large development rally in Hansi, the Chief Minister said the official notification for district formation will be issued within a week, after which Hansi will also acquire district status from a revenue administration perspective.

The announcement drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd, with people raising slogans and expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister for fulfilling the long-pending demand. Prior to the announcement, Saini inaugurated and laid foundation stones for three development projects worth ₹77.30 crore in the region.

Recalling Hansi’s historical significance, the Chief Minister described it as a land of valour and sacrifice, noting its crucial role during the 1857 First War of Independence. He said Hansi has a glorious past and was once known as Asi and Asigarh, serving as the capital of the Satluj province during the reign of Emperor Harsha.

Saini assured that the state government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the all-round development of Hansi. He said that over the last 11 years, development works worth ₹1,008 crore have been carried out in the Hansi Assembly constituency, compared to only ₹253 crore during the ten-year rule of the Congress.

Highlighting the government’s performance, the Chief Minister said that 54 out of 217 promises made in the election manifesto have been fulfilled within a year, while work on the remaining commitments is progressing rapidly. He added that the double-engine government has accelerated development across Haryana in its third term.

The Chief Minister also outlined several welfare initiatives, stating that under the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, financial assistance of ₹2,100 has been provided to over seven lakh women, amounting to ₹258 crore so far. He added that nearly 14.7 lakh families are benefiting from subsidised LPG cylinders priced at ₹500.

Speaking on farmer welfare, Saini said the government is procuring crops at minimum support price and has transferred ₹1.64 lakh crore directly into the accounts of nearly 12 lakh farmers. He accused the previous Congress government of leaving ₹269 crore in unpaid crop compensation, which was later cleared by the BJP government.

Taking aim at the opposition, the Chief Minister said that certain political parties are uncomfortable with the pace of development in Haryana and are attempting to mislead the public with false allegations, including claims of vote theft. He dismissed these charges as an attempt to undermine democratic institutions.

Cabinet Minister Ranbir Gangwa, BJP state president Mohanlal Kaushik and Hansi MLA Vinod Bhayana also addressed the rally, praising the Chief Minister’s leadership and calling the declaration of Hansi as a district a historic gift for the region. Several legislators, senior party leaders and a large number of residents were present at the event.
