Vice President Radhakrishnan Says India’s Spiritual Legacy Strengthening Its Role as a Global Guide

Chandigarh, December 7 — Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan said India’s ancient spiritual traditions, shaped by sages, monks and ascetics, continue to guide the world on the path of meditation, self-realisation and truth. He added that practices like Rajyoga, Vipassana and Tapasya are elevating India’s position as a global mentor. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047 is also powered by this spiritual strength.

The Vice President was speaking as the chief guest at the launch of the silver jubilee year celebrations of the Om Shanti Retreat Centre of the Brahma Kumaris in Bahora Kalan, Gurugram. He inaugurated the year-long celebrations titled “Shubharambh – Rashmiyaan”. Haryana’s Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh welcomed him on his arrival.

After lighting the ceremonial lamp, the Vice President said meditation brings deep peace to the soul, mind and body. He said meditation generates positive thoughts and strengthens inner energy. He shared that he met people from aviation, medicine, science, administration, social service and politics at the event, proving that inner peace and spiritual balance are essential for every individual.

He said following dharma brings both peace and victory, adding that self-control is the first step toward success, as also taught in the Gita. He said inner peace is possible only when one cultivates positivity, humility and a spirit of service. Quoting Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, he said life is uncertain and full of thoughts, but peace comes from righteous deeds, compassion and service. He also appreciated the institute’s service-oriented initiatives.

The Vice President recalled that during the COVID-19 pandemic, India provided free vaccines to many countries under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. He said India’s culture has always promoted the welfare of the entire world. He added that spirituality is humanity’s greatest inner strength and must be recognised and lived by everyone.

Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said spiritual understanding helps in removing hatred and encourages harmony. He said spirituality is not linked to any particular religion but is a way of understanding life’s essence. He said a spiritual outlook brings positivity, transforms perspective and helps individuals face challenges with clarity and strength.

The event was attended by Vice President’s Secretary Amit Khare, DC Ajay Kumar, Joint CP Sangeeta Kalia, DCP Traffic Rajesh Mohan, SDM Dinesh Luhach, and senior Brahma Kumaris dignitaries including Rajyogini BK Pushpa, Rajyogini BK Asha, Rajyogini BK Vedanti, Rajyogi BK Karuna and Rajyogini BK Shukla, along with other guests.
