Kisan Mazdoor Morcha to Stage Statewide Rail Blockade in Punjab on December 5

Chandigarh, December 2, 2025 — Rail services across Punjab are expected to face disruption on December 5 as the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (India), Punjab Chapter, has announced a two-hour statewide Rail Roko protest. The agitation will take place from 1 pm to 3 pm at 26 locations spread across 19 districts.

The protest aims to press for several demands, including the cancellation of the draft Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, withdrawal of prepaid electricity meters and reinstatement of old meters. The organisation is also opposing the alleged forcible sale of public properties by the Bhagwant Mann–led state government and raising other related issues.

Rail movement will be halted across multiple key routes. In Amritsar, the blockade will take place on the Delhi–Amritsar main line at Devidas Pura and Majitha stations. In Gurdaspur district, protests will be staged on the Amritsar–Jammu & Kashmir route at Batala, Gurdaspur, and Dera Baba Nanak railway stations. Pathankot will see the blockade at Parmanand Crossing, while Tarn Taran district will witness disruption at Tarn Taran Railway Station.

Several other districts will also be affected, including Ferozepur (Basti Tankanwale, Mallanwala, Talwandi Bhai), Kapurthala (near Dadwindi, Sultanpur Lodhi), Jalandhar (Jalandhar Cantt), Hoshiarpur (Tanda on J&K and Jalandhar route, Bhungala), Patiala (Shambu, Bara–Nabha), Sangrur (Sunam Shaheed Udham Singh Wala), Fazilka (Fazilka Railway Station), Moga (Moga Railway Station), Bathinda (Rampura), Muktsar (Malout, Muktsar), Malerkotla (Ahmedgarh), Mansa (Mansa Railway Station), Ludhiana (Sahnewal), Faridkot (Faridkot Railway Station), and Ropar (Ropar Railway Station).

Railway officials have warned that train operations will be disrupted during the protest window, and passengers may face delays or cancellations. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and check updates before starting their journey.
