VANCOUVER ( Rajeev Sharma): India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Dinesh Patnaik, joined the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) on Thursday for a closed-door roundtable focused on the ongoing diplomatic reset between Canada and India.
Hosted at APF Canada’s Vancouver office, the discussion brought together senior policy experts to examine opportunities and challenges emerging from renewed bilateral engagement. The dialogue comes shortly after Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Indira Anand’s visit to New Delhi, during which both countries issued a joint statement outlining a path forward in rebuilding trust and cooperation.

Participants also reflected on next steps for trade and investment following the recent trip to India by Canadian International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu, whose meetings emphasized expanding economic and commercial ties.
The session was moderated by Vina Nadjibulla, APF Canada’s Vice President of Research and Strategy, who highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue in strengthening diplomatic and economic bridges between the two nations.
This Vancouver roundtable followed a week of coordinated engagements in New Delhi, led by APF Canada and partner organizations including the Ananta Aspen Centre, the Council for Strategic and Defense Research, and Canada in India, all aimed at deepening collaboration among Canadian and Indian stakeholders.
Observers say the renewed momentum marks a meaningful step toward stabilizing and revitalizing one of Canada’s most strategically important Indo-Pacific relationships.
