Jalandhar Minor Murder Case: ASI Dismissed for Negligence and Misleading Victim’s Family

National Times Bureau :- In a significant disciplinary action, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur has dismissed ASI Mangat Ram from service for gross negligence in the investigation of the brutal murder of a 13-year-old girl. The officer was found guilty of misleading the victim’s family during a critical phase of the probe, falsely assuring them that their daughter was not inside a neighbour’s house — the same location from where her body was later recovered.

The Commissioner stepped in personally on the fourth day of the incident, visiting the bereaved family to offer condolences and reaffirm the police department’s support. She assured them that no one involved in mishandling the case or the crime itself would be spared — even if it meant acting against police personnel.

Meanwhile, the accused, Harminder Singh alias Happy, has been arrested and presented before the court, which has granted police custody for nine days. The victim’s family has urged authorities to move the case to a fast-track court to ensure swift justice, demanding the harshest possible punishment, including the death penalty, for the perpetrator.
