Suspect in Ferozepur murder case dies in shoot-out; two accomplices flee

Arrest Warrants Issued Against AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra and Associates in Patiala Case

Ferozepur (Gurpreet Singh): A dramatic police encounter on the Fazilka–Ferozepur stretch ended with the death of a murder accused on Thursday morning, while two of his associates managed to escape amid the gunfire. The shoot-out occurred close to the Mahmu Joyia toll plaza, where police teams had attempted to intercept the group.

According to initial reports, the suspects opened fire when the police signalled them to stop, triggering a swift exchange of bullets. One of the men, who had been wanted in connection with the killing of an RSS leader’s son in Ferozepur, was fatally shot during the encounter.

In the crossfire, a police constable sustained injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is stated to be stable.

Police officials said the group had been under surveillance, and the operation was part of an ongoing effort to track those involved in the high-profile murder. After their associate was neutralised, the two remaining suspects reportedly used the roadside cover to slip away.

A large search operation has since been launched, with teams combing nearby villages and routes leading towards the border belt. Senior officers visited the site to review the situation and oversee evidence collection from the area.

Authorities said additional details will be provided once further investigation is completed and the absconding suspects are traced.
