Satara (Maharashtra), October 24, 2025: In a shocking incident, a woman doctor in Maharashtra’s Satara district died by suicide on Friday, leaving a message written on her hand that named a police officer and two others, officials confirmed.
Satara Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Doshi said that a case has been registered against the accused under charges of rape and abetment to suicide. The Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) mentioned in the note has been suspended pending investigation.
“A woman doctor committed suicide. A note was found written on her palm naming two people, including a police official. A case has been registered against them under sections of rape and abetment to suicide. The PSI has been suspended. Teams are tracing the other accused, and a detailed probe is underway,” SP Doshi told reporters.
Family members of the deceased alleged that she was under immense political and police pressure to falsify post-mortem reports. Her cousin claimed, “She was being forced to make false mortem reports. She tried to raise her voice but was harassed. My sister must get justice.” Another family member demanded that the accused be given the strictest punishment.
Police have launched a comprehensive investigation, and further details are awaited.
