Chandigarh, October 10, 2025: The Haryana government has declared a three-day break for schools across the state to mark Karva Chauth, Sunday, and Valmiki Jayanti. All government schools will remain closed during this period, providing students and teachers with an extended weekend.
Karva Chauth, celebrated by married Hindu women who fast for the long life and prosperity of their husbands, falls on Friday this year. It will be followed by the second Saturday and Sunday holidays, with schools set to reopen on Monday.
According to the state’s education department, Haryana’s school calendar includes four local holidays Good Friday, Buddha Purnima, Karva Chauth, and Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day besides various public and optional holidays. The schedule aims to ensure students can fully participate in traditional and cultural festivities.
