Dehradun, October 4, 2025: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions totaling ₹986 crore for diverse development initiatives spanning urban infrastructure, rural empowerment, transportation, flood protection, and heritage restoration. The funding, drawn from both state and centrally sponsored schemes, aims to accelerate Uttarakhand’s growth trajectory while strengthening grassroots governance.
Administrative Infrastructure Upgrades in Key Districts
Major allocations include the construction of a non-residential building in Barakot tehsil (Champawat), new residential quarters in Officers’ Colony (Haridwar), a meeting hall at the tehsil office (Pauri Garhwal), and a new office complex with a workshop and storeroom at Lohaghat Bus Station (Champawat). These projects are designed to modernize administrative infrastructure and improve efficiency in public service delivery.
Empowering Local Governance and Panchayati Raj Institutions
Acting on the Fifth State Finance Commission’s recommendations, CM Dhami sanctioned substantial fund releases to strengthen local bodies. District Panchayats will receive ₹83.25 crore (third installment for FY 2025–26), Area Panchayats ₹78 crore (second half-yearly installment), Gram Panchayats ₹200 crore (second half-yearly installment), and Urban Local Bodies ₹333 crore (third quarterly installment). An additional ₹3 crore has been allocated to three non-elected bodies. The move underscores the state’s commitment to financial autonomy and capacity building in Panchayati Raj institutions.
Boosting Connectivity in Urban and Rural Areas
The Chief Minister also approved key road and bridge development projects. These include ₹3.19 crore for roadwork on the Anarwala-Malsi motor road in Mussoorie after encroachment removal, renovation of the 113-year-old Saryu River suspension footbridge in Bageshwar, and strengthening of the road from Jaynagar to Monibaba’s Mazar in Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar. These projects aim to enhance regional connectivity, safety, and mobility in both tourism-heavy and remote areas.
Infrastructure, Utilities, and Heritage Development
Additional funding covers the installation of external electricity and water lines for a low-income housing project in Kath Bangla (Dehradun), flood protection along the Khoh River (Kotdwar, Pauri Garhwal), and construction of a motor road from Nawabgarh bridge to Khadar (Vikasnagar). The Soban Singh Jeena University campus in Champawat will also be upgraded with a central library, mini stadium, and boundary wall.
Projects under the Irrigation Department, Uttarakhand Transmission Strengthening and Distribution Improvement Programme, and ADB-supported schemes have also been approved. Heritage restoration initiatives include the development of the Angeli Babu temple site in Kapkot (Bageshwar), reinforcing the state’s commitment to preserving its cultural identity.
A Holistic Vision for Growth and Inclusion
The ₹986 crore allocation reflects Uttarakhand’s balanced model of infrastructure growth and inclusive development. CM Dhami’s focus on administrative modernization, local governance, and regional connectivity underscores a vision of sustainable progress rooted in empowerment, accessibility, and heritage conservation.
