New Delhi, September 30, 2025 – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday said Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured him of substantial central assistance to tackle the flood devastation in the state.
The assurance came during a 25-minute meeting in Delhi, where Mann presented a detailed report on the scale of destruction caused by floods in Punjab. According to the Chief Minister, Shah described the earlier grant of ₹1,600 crore as merely “token money” and promised that additional funds will soon be released.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mann said, “I explained the losses Punjab has suffered due to floods, and the Home Minister responded positively. He assured that the Centre stands with Punjab in this crisis and all possible support will be extended.”
Mann emphasized that Punjab requires urgent financial assistance for rehabilitation, restoration of infrastructure, and direct compensation for affected families and farmers.
The discussion also highlighted the state’s demand for a comprehensive relief package, with Mann stressing that rebuilding efforts must prioritize both immediate needs and long-term resilience against future natural calamities.
