National Times Bureau :- The monsoon has officially withdrawn from Punjab and Haryana, while its presence in Uttarakhand has weakened. Meteorologists expect the system to retreat from Uttarakhand within the next week. For now, only light rainfall is likely in the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Punjab received 48% above-average rainfall during this monsoon season. From June 1 to date, the state recorded 621.4 mm of rainfall, against the normal 420.9 mm. However, IMD has predicted dry conditions across Punjab for the next seven days, with a slight rise in daytime temperatures. While day temperatures are expected to remain close to normal, nights will gradually turn cooler.
Experts note that a slight chill will set in during the first week of October 2025. Residents can expect mild cold weather between Dussehra and Diwali, followed by a sharper dip in temperatures after the festive season. The coldest phase is projected for December and January, when winter peaks across northern India.
