Haryana State Olympic Games 2025 Set to Make a Grand Return After 13 Years, Offering New Opportunities for Athletes

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): After a hiatus of 13 years, the Haryana State Olympic Games 2025 are finally set to return, marking a major milestone for sports in the state. The Games, which were suspended due to political controversies, will take place in November 2025, offering a platform for over 15,000 athletes who have been deprived of opportunities for over a decade.

The much-awaited event has been approved by the Haryana government, with the Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) taking charge of the preparations. A key highlight of this year’s Games is the inclusion of 27 Olympic sports, giving athletes from various disciplines the chance to compete at the state level. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate the event, signaling the state’s commitment to fostering sports talent.

Government Jobs via Sports Quota
A significant development linked to the Games is the filling of 477 government jobs through the sports quota, offering deserving athletes a chance to secure employment based on their sporting achievements. This decision is expected to benefit thousands of athletes, especially those who have been waiting for such opportunities for years.

Emphasis on Transparency
In a bid to ensure fairness, the HOA has introduced new regulations that require athletes’ sports certificates to include parents’ names, Aadhaar card numbers, and birth dates, preventing any misuse of certificates and ensuring that only genuine athletes benefit.

Cash Prizes for Medalists
In addition to the employment opportunities, athletes who win medals will receive substantial cash rewards. Gold medalists will take home ₹6 crore, while silver medalists will be awarded Rs 4 crore. This is part of an effort to incentivize top athletes and ensure they are adequately recognized.

A Bright Future for Haryana’s Athletes
With the Haryana State Olympic Games making a comeback, Brahmachari Kuldeep Shatranj, General Secretary of Chess Asia Continent, emphasized that this is not just a return of the event but a new beginning for Haryana’s athletes. He stated, “This is an opportunity for young talent to gain both recognition and employment. The Games will change the future of sports in Haryana.”

As the second phase of Khel Mahakumbh begins on September 24, excitement is building for the upcoming Olympic Games, which promise to provide a major platform for emerging sporting talent in the state.
