Dehradun, September 14, 2025: Political circles in Uttarakhand grew restless on Sunday as a string of legislators visited Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s official residence, just a day after his return from Delhi. The flurry of meetings quickly set off speculation of a possible cabinet reshuffle.
By mid-morning, several MLAs, including Independent Sanjay Dobhal and ruling party members Sahdev Pundir, Khazan Dass, Suresh Chauhan, Bharat Chaudhary, Anil Nautiyal, and Pritam Panwar, held individual consultations with Dhami.
Though officially described as “courtesy calls” and discussions on constituency development, the underlying political intent was hard to miss. MLA Pritam Panwar, while speaking to TNIE, hinted that the conversations went beyond local issues. “While I primarily discussed matters about my constituency, other conversations (what you might be thinking) also took place,” he remarked, alluding to the awaited cabinet expansion.
The Chief Minister listened to the legislators’ demands, promising to direct departments for swift action. He also hinted at a cabinet expansion “at an appropriate time,” intensifying the buzz.
Dhami reiterated his government’s commitment to fast, transparent governance, urging MLAs to act as a bridge between the public and administration. He emphasized infrastructure growth across roads, healthcare, education, tourism, drinking water, and energy, stressing that balanced development depends on proactive legislative participation.
While BJP insiders remained discreet, sources suggested that five vacant cabinet posts could soon be filled. Party chatter indicated that new faces might find a place in the ministry, while a few current ministers could be sidelined. Many expect the exercise to unfold after the ongoing ‘Shraddh Paksha’ period, considered inauspicious for fresh political appointments.
