Chandigarh, September 12 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday inaugurated air services from Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar to Jaipur. The launch, held virtually from Chandigarh, marks another step in strengthening regional connectivity after the recent start of flights to Ayodhya, Delhi, and Chandigarh.
Saini said the new service is not just about an additional flight but represents Haryana’s growing identity in civil aviation, symbolizing self-reliance, progress, and inclusivity. He added that upcoming flights from Hisar to Ahmedabad and Jammu will further expand the state’s aviation network.
Highlighting infrastructure upgrades, the Chief Minister said Hisar Airport has been equipped with modern technology in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India. The installation of a Doppler VOR system has reduced minimum visibility requirements for operations from 5,000 meters to 2,800 meters, enabling smoother flight operations even in adverse weather. An Instrument Landing System is also being set up, allowing night landings.
Saini stressed that the government is committed to transforming Hisar into a full-fledged, world-class international airport. Future plans include a new terminal building, modern ATC tower, cargo complex, fire station, administrative offices, and expanded parking facilities. He said Hisar would eventually emerge as an alternative to Delhi Airport, providing benefits to the public, small traders, and other stakeholders.
The Chief Minister also outlined a broader vision for Hisar as an industrial, logistics, and investment hub. He recalled that on August 28, 2024, Hisar was made part of the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, and on August 20, 2025, agreements were signed for an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster over 2,988 acres with an estimated cost of ₹4,680 crore, expected to generate 1.25 lakh jobs. By linking with the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, Hisar is set to become a gateway for industries in Haryana.
Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, Civil Aviation Commissioner Amneet P. Kumar, advisor Narhari Singh Bangar, and other senior officials attended the inauguration.
