Horrific Machete Attack Claims Life of Indian-Origin Man at Dallas Motel

Dallas, TX (Rajeev Sharma): A senseless act of violence at a motel in Dallas, Texas, on September 10, 2025, has left a family devastated and a community in shock. Chandramouli Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old Indian-origin man, was fatally attacked with a machete in a gruesome incident that culminated in his beheading, according to the Dallas Police Department.

The tragedy occurred at the Downtown Suites motel, situated near Interstate 30 and Tenison Golf Course. Authorities have arrested Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, charging him with capital murder. He is currently detained without bond, with jail records indicating an immigration detainer has also been placed on him.

The altercation reportedly began over a minor workplace issue. According to legal documents, Nagamallaiah, who was employed at the motel, advised Cobos-Martinez and a female coworker against using a broken washing machine during their cleaning duties. The situation escalated when Cobos-Martinez took offense, believing Nagamallaiah’s instructions, relayed through the coworker as a translator, were disrespectful.

Security footage revealed the chilling progression of the attack. Cobos-Martinez, armed with a machete, chased Nagamallaiah across the motel’s parking lot as the victim screamed for help. Despite efforts by Nagamallaiah’s wife and son, who were nearby in the motel’s office, to stop the assault, Cobos-Martinez persisted, ultimately decapitating the victim. Disturbingly, the suspect was seen kicking Nagamallaiah’s head across the lot and later placing it in a dumpster.

Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel, who happened to be in the area, tracked the suspect, covered in blood, until police arrived to apprehend him. Cobos-Martinez admitted to the killing, though investigators are still determining whether the attack was planned or spontaneous.

The Consulate General of India in Houston expressed profound grief over the incident, stating on X: “We mourn the tragic loss of Mr. Chandra Nagamallaiah, an Indian national killed in a brutal attack at his workplace in Dallas. We are supporting his family and closely following the case as the suspect remains in custody.”The motel, now marked by crime scene barriers, stands as a somber reminder of the violence that unfolded. As authorities continue their investigation, the community grapples with the shock of such a brutal act, raising questions about workplace safety and conflict escalation.

Police are seeking additional witness accounts to further clarify the events leading to this heartbreaking loss.
