National Times Bureau :- Faridkot Police have arrested two drug smugglers and seized 12.1 kilograms of heroin in a major operation against cross-border narco-terror networks. Officials said the recovery came after a two-week-long, source-based operation.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the action in a post on X, stating that a case has been registered at PS Sadar Faridkot, and a detailed investigation is underway to expose the entire network, including its links on both sides of the border.
Preliminary findings suggest that the arrested suspects were in touch with Pakistan-based smugglers, pointing to a larger international smuggling chain. The drugs were recovered from Village Jhariwala, under the jurisdiction of PS Sadar Faridkot.
In another case, Punjab Police on Monday arrested a notorious drug smuggler, Soni Singh alias Soni, along with four associates — Gursewak Singh, Vishaldeep Singh alias Gola, Gurpreet Singh, and Arshdeep Singh — all residents of Ajnala, Amritsar. Police recovered 8.1 kg of heroin from their possession.
According to DGP Yadav, this syndicate was also linked to Pakistan and used drones to transport heroin across the border. The group reportedly stored heroin consignments in hotels before distributing them further. Investigations are ongoing to track their handlers, supply chains, and financial networks.
