Calgary Airport Security Screeners at a Critical Juncture, Union Asserts

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma) :- Security screeners at Calgary International Airport have reached a critical juncture, with their union emphasizing the potential for significant enhancements if working conditions are improved.
Front-line officers cite chronic understaffing, low wages, and high turnover as key challenges, creating an overworked environment while staff maintain rigorous security standards. Union representatives stress that timely improvements in compensation, scheduling, and workplace support could substantially boost staff morale. They also foresee that resolving staffing shortages will result in shorter wait times and a smoother travel experience for passengers.

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has not yet responded to the union’s concerns, but screeners emphasize that immediate action is crucial to safeguard both employee well-being and passenger safety.
