Chandigarh, August 25, 2025: Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini on Monday defended the state’s farmer compensation portal, stating that it ensures the safety and welfare of farmers while opposition attempts to discredit it have failed.
Speaking during the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Haryana Assembly, CM Saini said the portal allows citizens, especially farmers, to directly access benefits of welfare schemes at their doorstep. “Earlier, compensation funds often went missing before reaching the intended recipients. Today, through the portal, farmers and the general public are secure,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that during the last Assembly elections, the opposition had spread misinformation about the portal and even promised to shut it down if elected. However, public support ensured that such claims failed.
CM Saini explained that the compensation portal allows farmers from flood-affected villages to report crop losses, which are then verified by relevant department officials. He highlighted that during the previous Congress government, only ₹1,158 crore was disbursed as compensation for crop damage. In contrast, the current government has issued ₹15,500 crore so far. Recently, ₹78.5 crore in compensation was released to farmers. The portal has earned praise from farmers for streamlining access to government welfare schemes.
