Mohali (Gurpreet Singh): The Punjabi entertainment world woke up to heartbreaking news today as Dr. Jaswinder Bhalla, one of the most admired comedians and senior figures in Punjabi cinema, passed away in the early hours of the morning.
Jaswinder Bhalla died with a brain stroke at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.
He had been unwell for the past few months. He was reportedly admitted to the Fotis Hospital in Mohali, where he took his last breath on August 22.
Despite medical efforts, Jaswinder Bhalla reportedly breathed his last at 4:00 am on Friday. His death was later confirmed by his close friend and fellow Chhankata actor Balmukund Sharma.
Dr. Bhalla, who was not only an actor but also an academic and a cultural icon, had become a household name through his remarkable ability to blend humor with everyday life. His characters left an indelible mark on Punjabi cinema, theatre, and television, making him one of the most beloved personalities of his era.
The veteran comedian’s passing has left his fans and colleagues in deep sorrow. Tributes have been pouring in from across the globe, with admirers remembering his unparalleled comic timing and his immense contribution in bringing Punjabi culture and laughter to the world stage.
According to the family, the cremation will take place on Saturday, August 23, at 12 noon at Balongi cremation ground, Mohali. A large gathering of industry stalwarts, friends, and admirers is expected to attend and bid farewell to the legendary artist.
