Surrey (Richa Walia): The Laxmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey celebrated Krishna Janmashtami with a grand Shobha Yatra (religious procession) that brought together hundreds of devotees and community members in a colorful display of devotion and culture.

The streets around the temple were filled with spiritual chants of “Hare Krishna” as devotees joined the procession carrying beautifully decorated floats (jhankis) depicting scenes from Lord Krishna’s life. Children dressed as Radha and Krishna added charm to the occasion, while traditional dhol, bhajans, and kirtan groups kept the atmosphere vibrant throughout the Yatra.

The event highlighted unity, spirituality, and cultural pride within the Indo-Canadian community. Vinay Sharma from the Laxmi Narayan Mandir management has expressed gratitude to volunteers, performers, and participants who made the Shobha Yatra a memorable success.

The celebrations concluded with aarti and distribution of prasad, spreading the blessings of Lord Krishna’s birth among all attendees.
