National Times Bureau :- A tragic accident was reported in the capital’s Moti Nagar area, where a speeding white Thar SUV fatally hit a motorcyclist. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Bechu Lal.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision was so severe that the bike was completely mangled and the SUV’s airbags deployed instantly. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the crash, while police launched a search operation. CCTV footage from the area and statements from locals are being examined as part of the investigation.
A video of the incident circulating on social media shows the moment of impact. Police have since seized the vehicle but are yet to arrest the driver. The victim’s sister, Kiran, revealed that officials showed the family a video confirming the motorbike was stationary when it was struck. She appealed for swift action, noting that Bechu Lal leaves behind five young children.
The accident has triggered anger among local residents, who allege that reckless driving and overspeeding continue to claim lives in Delhi with little deterrence for offenders. Police, however, maintain that enforcement drives against speeding vehicles are underway.
