New Delhi, August 14, 2025: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday lauded India’s decisive response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, crediting Operation Sindoor as a turning point in the nation’s fight against cross-border terrorism.
In her address to the nation on the eve of the 79th Independence Day, Murmu condemned the “cowardly and utterly inhuman” killing of civilians and praised the armed forces for displaying “strategic clarity and technical capability” in dismantling terror infrastructure.
Calling Operation Sindoor a “landmark in the global fight against terrorism,” the President said the military’s steely resolve destroyed multiple hubs, sending a strong message worldwide. “I believe Operation Sindoor will go down in history as an example in humanity’s fight against terrorism,” she declared.
Murmu underscored national unity as India’s strongest response to those seeking to create divisions, pointing to cross-party delegations of MPs who explained India’s stance on terrorism to foreign governments.
She reiterated India’s consistent position that while the country will never be the aggressor, it will not hesitate to defend its citizens. Framing Operation Sindoor as a testament to the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, the President said indigenous manufacturing had reached a “critical level,” enabling India to meet many of its security needs independently.
“These are landmark achievements in India’s defence history since Independence,” she said, calling them a foundation for future self-reliance and strength.
