Jyotisar Geeta Sthal to Become a World-Class Historical Tourist Destination: Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh, July 18 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday declared that Jyotisar, the sacred land where Lord Krishna is believed to have delivered the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, will be developed into a grand and globally significant historical tourist destination. The state government is investing nearly ₹250 crore to transform Jyotisar into a vibrant, immersive center of cultural and spiritual tourism.

During his visit to the district of Kurukshetra, the Chief Minister inspected the Jyotisar Anubhav Kendra (Experience Centre), meticulously reviewing several thematic chambers, including the Welcome Hall, Epic Creation Room, Ancient Mahabharata Gallery, Kuru Dynasty Display, Geeta Shloka Hall, Krishna’s Role, and the Dashavatar Exhibit. He was accompanied by Geeta scholar Swami Gyananand Maharaj and senior officials from the Tourism Department, including Principal Secretary Kala Ramachandran.

Saini issued clear instructions to complete all remaining construction work at the experience center promptly, emphasizing that it should be made accessible to tourists without delay. “Every development project linked to the Jyotisar Experience Centre must be completed quickly so that tourists from across the world can witness the living history of Mahabharata and Kurukshetra,” he said.

He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has provided significant momentum to the preservation of India’s cultural heritage. Inspired by this vision, the state is creating a Mahabharata-themed attraction in Jyotisar, with the goal of making it a world-renowned historic destination.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, CM Saini reiterated the spiritual and historical significance of Kurukshetra. “Lord Krishna delivered the eternal message of the Gita from this sacred land. Keeping this legacy in mind, our government is expediting the development of Jyotisar as a place of global spiritual importance,” he stated. He also mentioned that a formal request has been made to Prime Minister Modi to visit Kurukshetra. “If he accepts, it will be a historic moment for the region,” the CM added.

He further announced that directions would be issued to reopen the Kalpana Chawla Planetarium for tourists soon, enhancing the district’s appeal as a hub for educational and spiritual tourism.

Also present during the visit were former Minister Subhash Sudha, the CM’s OSD Bharat Bhushan Bharti, Tourism Director Dr. Shaleen, Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh, and other senior officials.
