Eight Senior IPS Officers Promoted to DGP Rank in Punjab

Chandigarh, July 14, 2025: In a significant administrative move, the Punjab government has promoted eight senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the 1994 batch to the prestigious rank of Director General of Police (DGP).

According to an official order issued by the Department of Home Affairs (Home-I Branch), the following officers have been elevated to Level-16 in the Pay Matrix with immediate effect:

Dr. Naresh Kumar, IPS

Ram Singh, IPS

Sudhanshu Shekhar Srivastava, IPS

Praveen Kumar Sinha, IPS

B. Chandra Sekhar, IPS

Amardeep Singh Rai, IPS

Neeraja Voruvuru, IPS

Anita Punj, IPS

The promotion orders were issued with the approval of the competent authority.

The notification, signed by Alok Shekhar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of Home Affairs, has been forwarded to multiple departments for necessary action, including the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi, the Chief Minister’s office, the Director General of Police Punjab, and other relevant officials.

The elevation of these officers comes as part of routine cadre management and is expected to bring further administrative strengthening to the Punjab Police force.
