Mann on Majithia Arrest: No Shield for Drug Offenders, Only Justice for Punjab

Chandigarh, June 26, 2025 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann declared that his government would not protect anyone involved in drug trafficking, reaffirming a zero-tolerance stance in the wake of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia’s arrest in a ₹540 crore drug money laundering case.

Speaking to the media after the arrest, Mann described it as a landmark moment in the state’s ongoing war against drugs. “This is not about politics. This is about justice. No one regardless of influence or position will be spared if found guilty of playing with the future of Punjab’s youth,” Mann asserted.

Majithia was taken into custody by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau following months of investigation into money laundering linked to drug operations. Authorities allege the former cabinet minister laundered hundreds of crores through shell companies, foreign entities, and unaccounted deposits.

Dismissing any claims of political vendetta, Mann emphasized that the action was entirely evidence-driven. “We are acting on facts, not on political grudges. Every step is based on legal procedure,” he stated.

Mann reiterated that the campaign against drugs is rooted in public mandate and a commitment to securing a better future for Punjab’s next generation. “The people have trusted us to clean up this mess. And we will not falter,” he said.
