Sonipat (National Times): In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through Haryana’s music and modeling industry, the life of rising Haryanvi star Sheetal, also known as Simmi Chaudhary, came to a tragic end. Her lifeless body was discovered in the cold waters of a canal in Kharkhoda, Sonipat, on Monday morning, just days after she had left for a shoot and never returned.
She was only in her early twenties. A promising face in regional music videos. A young woman trying to carve out a life through art and ambition. But instead, her final chapter has been written in grief, suspicion, and unanswered questions.
Her sister Neha, who raised the first alarm, identified the body by the tattoos on Sheetal’s arms and chest — permanent marks of her identity, now a haunting confirmation of her death.
According to Neha, Sheetal had gone for a shoot in Ahar village on the night of June 14. Around 1:30 AM, she had spoken to her sister on a video call, scared and distressed. She said her ex-boyfriend Sunil, a hotelier from Israna and father of two, had arrived at the shoot, assaulted her, and tried to forcibly take her away. Then the call cut off. That was the last time anyone heard from her.
On Sunday, Sunil’s car was found submerged in the Delhi Parallel Canal. He was pulled out alive by locals, but Sheetal was missing. The next day, her body surfaced in a different canal, confirming what the family had feared.
Neha shared that Sheetal had once worked at Hotel Sukoon in Karnal, where she met Sunil. Their friendship turned into a relationship. He had even proposed marriage. But when Sheetal discovered he was already married with children, she broke things off. Sunil, however, refused to let go.
“He used to follow her everywhere,” Neha said, holding back tears. “He hit her. He threatened her. That night, he went too far.”
Police officials from Sonipat have registered the case and launched a full investigation. ACP Ajit Singh confirmed, “We are treating this as a possible case of homicide. The post-mortem will reveal further details.”
As friends, fans, and fellow artists mourn her untimely death, Sheetal’s story becomes another grim reminder of how fame offers no immunity from violence, especially when the danger comes from someone trusted.
She was a model, a daughter, a sister, and now, a victim of what appears to be yet another case of obsession turned fatal.
