Chandigarh (National Times): The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, addressed aspiring civil service candidates at a special event held at Raj Malhotra Study Centre to mark a decade of efforts dedicated to guiding future civil servants. The program brought together young aspirants and mentors committed to public service.
In his address, Shri Kataria emphasized the need to ensure that talented students from government schools are not left behind due to lack of resources. “Many gifted children in our country do not get the chance they deserve simply because of financial or social limitations. If provided with direction, guidance, and a supportive platform, they too can excel in administrative leadership,” he stated.
He highlighted that students achieving over 90 percent marks or demonstrating unique talent must be identified and supported. “Such meritorious students should be provided with free guidance and resources so that no capable youth is denied an opportunity to serve the nation.”
Quoting Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he said, “Dreams are not what we see while sleeping, dreams are those that do not let us sleep,” and reaffirmed Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s belief that “No power can snatch education.”
“Education is the most powerful instrument of nation-building,” the Governor remarked, adding that civil servants must be sensitive, capable, and driven by a national spirit. “True public service lies in uplifting those in need.”
The Governor encouraged all institutions and civil society to work collectively to ensure that the doors to public service are open to every deserving student, regardless of their background.
